What’s Your SPIRITUAL New Year’s Resolution

People often make new year’s resolutions. We resolve to workout more, lose weight, eat healthier, argue less, be better friends, etc… But what about our faith and spirituality? What about a resolution to seek and know God better? What about a resolution to finally READ and STUDY God’s word? What about a resolution to help reverse negative Christian stereotypes
Anyway, we would love to hear what your SPIRITUAL new year’s resolutions are this year.

About R. Brad White

R. Brad White is the Founder and President of Changing the Face of Christianity Inc. Brad is a former atheist and became an "on fire for God" Christian in 2005. In 2008, Brad became incredibly burdened by what he perceived as a Christian faith far off course, and Christians far from living the teachings of Jesus Christ. In 2010, Brad submitted to the calling to reverse these negative Christian stereotypes, by starting "Changing the Face of Christianity" (a 501c3 Texas non-profit corporation). Read more about R. 1. Paula Eslick says:

My first resolution is to have quiet time with God every day, to read my bible and pray, first thing in the morning. My second resolution is to be the Godly wife He calls me to be, to always recognize my husband is the head of our household and to show him the respect he deserves as the head of our household.

  2. Tihmene Maitland Ayemele says:

I had not made any resolution before now. This article has made me to sit back and take my resolutions as a Christian. Here are my resolutions. I will pray to God and read my bible every day. I will always try to understand issues based on others’ point of view. My next resolution is to always seek favor from God in everything I do. I will admit a God fearing intimate person into my life.

  3. Wayne Royce says:

My first resolution is to study the works of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John more because I know that this is the true words of Our Lord and saviour. Second I resolve to start walking again it just seems to make you feel better. That is my private time with God and at 74 years of age How many more steps does one have Also to continue to usher at my church and to stay active whereever i can. It just keeps the fire burning, Praiuse you Lord. As ever ; Love Wayne

  4. From a history of failed resolutions and knowing the weakness of my flesh, stopped making resolutions (which may be a cop out.) However, admire the hope and accountability that comes with resolutions. . . really enjoyed reading everyone’s above. In walking with the Lord have some things that are pressing goals and desires that I take into the new year. . . that I would have an undivided heart turned always to the Lord, and a pure and open spirit. As a resolution, that those two would be a measure and standard of what I am and do going forward.

  5. Monica Johnson says:

Yup, had this one at the TOP of my resolution list. My spiritual resolution for 2013 is to fast (particularly from food) more. I believe that this will help me to better hear that ‘still small voice’.

  6. It hasn’t been my habit of making resolutions. I am much more of a fan of repentance. I believe it to be more effective to elicit change in my behavior. Repentance is a little removed from the idea of resolution in that there is a notion of guilt fueled by the Presence of the Holy Spirit. It is to change something that is contrary to the nature of God. Resolution can be perhaps trivial or self-image driven. It isn’t wrong. I just prefer the other.

  7. Sandra Carpenter says:

As Paul said…to be content. I seek and long to be more content with my spiritual walk with Christ. Sometimes I find myself anxious, awaiting the promises of God and the vision He has placed upon my life. I often find myself hating another day of doing the “SAME OLE’, SAME OLE’” when all I desire is to fullfill my Father’s Vision. Though He reminds me as He did in Habakkuk, “for the vision is for an appointed time, though it tarry, wait for it,” I can’t help but be impatient. I strive this new year to enjoy every day as He gives it…and just keep that within my heart strong, ready and prepared to do his will in this last day. K.I.S.S. The WhomSoEver

  8. For the past couple of years, my “resolution” has been to be kind to someone in particular who is very unkind to myself and others. I think I will continue to follow this resolution. Since I’ve started, I’ve noticed that although the unkind person has continued to have a more pessimistic outlook, I am no longer irritated by every little thing they say or do and I am able to show true Christian kindness at times when the old me would’ve said “forget it!”. On days when the unkind person is at their worst, I actually pray for them…that God heals their anger issues and protects me from their wrath. It can be very hard at times b/c they can be pretty nasty but b/c I have followed my resolution (with the help of God b/c without him I can do nothing!) I have noticed His peace coming back to me. …I’m just grateful every day that I don’t have to live with the unkind person!!
