How to Start a Christian Non-Profit

Dear Larry

DEAR LARRY I want to start a Christian non-profit. Are there Biblical principles that should be considered? I mean is there a right or wrong way to run a Christian ministry? How do I make sure that it doesn't become one of the negative stereotypes that I see talked about on your site? Thanks. Tom Speirs … [Read more...]

Should I Create A Prayer Room?

Dear Larry

DEAR LARRY I live in Chennai, India. I need advice from you as a brother in Christ. My house is surrounded by many Hindu families. We stay in the first floor front flat and the other three flats are tenanted presently by Hindu families. One flat is getting vacated in August. This morning after my private prayer, by the grace of our Lord, I had a very strong thought that once the flat is vacated, I have to turn it into a prayer hall. In the wall, I want to display the verse Ephesians … [Read more...]

How Do I Make Restitution?

Dear Larry

DEAR LARRY: I am 47 years old male from Chennai, India. I am a born Christian regular to protestant Church here. At the age of 42 in July 25, 2007, I have accepted Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord, Saviour & Friend and became converted / born-again. Before conversion, like Zaheus in the Holy Bible, I have earned unrighteous money in way of bribes, kick backs, in my official capacity.  Yesterday, I was meditating on St. Matthew Chapter 6.  I prayed to our Lord that I have accepted You and … [Read more...]

Should Christians Vote?

Too Political, christian nation, right wing politics

Dear Larry, With the national election coming closer, I was told by someone that I am not "godly" because I vote in national election.  Saying that the Lord is in total control and voting is unchristian.  Can you please help me to understand why I shouldn't be voting?  Thanks - Carol … [Read more...]

Does Email Evangelism Work?

Dear Larry

DEAR LARRY: I would love your feedback in regards to how I reach out to people. I share the truth about the Bible through emails. I often receive emails along with additional addresses, and this is how I reach out to others. I love serving Him! May you please take the time to read over my message, and please feel free to point out anything that might be a turn off to someone that just has never heard of Jesus before. I want the message to be as effective as possible. I just hope that the … [Read more...]

Impact of Unforgiveness

Q:  If someone has wronged you and it takes you a very long time to forgive them (like maybe several years), is there any irreperable harm done to the relationship?  I mean, can't God redeem anything ... so there would always be the hope that the relationship can return to normal once the forgiveness is finally offered? A:  This sounds like a question being asked by someone with a guilty conscience!  The answer is that of course God can redeem anything.  However, God doesn't typically … [Read more...]

Godless Japanese?

Q: I heard a guy on the radio this week talking about how Japan "is a godless nation" and the latest earthquake and tsunami are punishments from God. How would you respond to someone who has such beliefs? Doesn't God love everyone? A: Mmmm ... I'm not sure I would say that God loves everyone. God is willing to love everyone. God desires to love everyone. And I believe God is grieved that not everyone meets the criteria for His love. But the Bible does indicate that God's love is reserved for … [Read more...]

Science & Religion

Q: My friend says that religion and science oppose each other. Is that really true?A: I don't think so. If anything, science complements religion. The Bible leaves out the details of many things. For example, the Bible describes the heavens as vast. But we learn through science that space is infinite. In other words, science helps us understand how vast the heavens are. Another example might be creation. The Bible tells us that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. It … [Read more...]

Curing Gays

Q: You recently shared a link on Facebook to a news story about how Apple is embracing an iPhone application from Exodus International --- which aims to "cure homosexuals." Isn't this just hate-mongering? Aren't we supposed to love the sinner hate the sin? And does anyone really believe gays can be "cured?" I mean, if God made them that way, who are we to change them?A: The Biblical position is that homosexual activity is a sin. And as Jesus pointed out, lust in our minds and hearts is also sin. … [Read more...]

Easter

Q: Easter is coming up in a few weeks. What would be a good way to celebrate it? I'd like to teach my kids something more than the Easter Bunny, candy and new outfits. But I honestly don't know where to start.A: You start with the resurrection. Easter is the celebration of Christ's resurrection ... which proved that He is who He says He is. It proved that Jesus is God. And that truth means that our sins are forgiven. We just have to confess them and turn to Him.I think an excellent way to … [Read more...]

Christian Technology

Q: What does the Bible have to say about modern technology? I mean are Christians supposed to embrace it or turn from it? I notice the Amish, for example, eschew most modern technologies. And I know the Mennonites do too, albeit to a lesser extent (they drive cars). Is there a Biblical basis for such decisions? Would Jesus have a cell phone or text His disciples?A: I'm not aware of any Bible passage that would instruct or even guide Christ-followers to eschew modern technological advancements. … [Read more...]

Orphans in the World

Q: I've read that there are something like 30 million orphans around the world today. Seriously, how could Christians respond to something like that? I mean, it's more than anyone could imagine. How could you build enough orphanages to house all of those kids?A: Well, here's a little surprise for you --- orphanages are not Biblical. That's right. They're not Biblical. The Christian response is not to house the lonely orphans in institutions. Jesus said that we are to love others as we ourselves … [Read more...]
